Hello, and Welcome.

I’m David P. Reese, founder of AmDeCa™ and owner of EternaCare. After nearly 40 years in funeral service, I created this association to unite those who care deeply about deathcare — and to make sure our work is not only honored, but understood.

If you’re reading this, you’re likely someone who walks beside families during their hardest days. Or support those of us that do. Thank you! You matter to us and our community. You belong here. Let’s build something lasting — together.

David's Story

David P. Reese is a funeral professional, author, musician, and national thought leader who has devoted nearly four decades to the sacred care of the dying, the dead, and the grieving. As the founder of the American Deathcare Association (AmDeCa™) and owner of EternaCare, David has served thousands of families with compassion, innovation, and reverence — always upholding the deep emotional value of ceremony, farewell, and human connection.

David is an honors graduate of the Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service and holds a degree from Louisburg College. He also attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and furthered his graduate academic journey at Harvard University, reflecting a lifelong commitment to learning, leadership, and ethical development in both funeral care and public advocacy.

In recognition of his visionary work and service to the profession, David holds an honorary doctorate, and is a proud member of both the North Carolina Funeral Directors Association (NCFDA) and the Gospel Music Association (GMA) — where his love for harmony and healing extends from the funeral home to the stage.

David is also the author of An Introduction to the Theory of Conjunctive Dependability and the JunPen Weave Model — a groundbreaking book that unites psychology, physiology, and grief theory into a new field of study known as JunPenology. This book is being published June 2025 through Vellichor Press. Through this work, he challenges outdated frameworks and invites both professionals and families to rediscover the value of embodied farewell.

When he’s not composing music or advocating for the future of funeral service, David can often be found at Universal Studios Orlando, attending Harry Potter events with his HP Group boasting just over 175,000 online members and has joined several thousand of them each January, for 13 consecutive years, altogether enjoying the immersive magic of storytelling, friendships and restoring his own sense of wonder.

“This deathcare profession is not about disposal — it’s about devotion. We don’t just serve the dead. We carry the living. We preserve meaning for those still here.”

David invites you to join him in building a new future for deathcare — one rooted in ceremony, community, and the courage to lead.
